How many pineapple fried rice dishes have I had here? Too many! I've actually lost count. It's not like I only eat pineapple fried rice but it's definitely up there as my go-to. As a close runner up and contender, the curries come in spicy and hot, with the green, red and yellow curry dishes all being my favorite.

I've been a loyal customer to Lucky Thai for years!! It's a modest establishment and flavorful no doubt. They have a large menu, an array of tasteful platters and soups, and always made right! Off of University street and just a block away from the west side of UC Berkeley, this restaurant boosts a plethora of flavors for the average college budget!

Also did I mention, Free Thai ice tea on Sundays!

Affordable and delicious Thai food right in downtown Berkeley by the BART station. I've been a handful of times for lunch and dinner and it never disappoints. I'm always greeted and seated right away too. I've had their pad Thai, which is delicious and plentiful. On this most recent lunch visit I had their eggplant basil with tofu (they have other protein options) that comes with two scoops of white rice. I love this dish! The sauce that comes with it is very flavorful. It's super filling too and I've definitely have leftovers in the past. They have a wide array of other menu items too.

Their decor and interior is super minimal and casual. It's great for a quick lunch (their service is really quick) or a group meal for lunch or dinner.

Definitely one of the better Thai spots in Berkeley.

Best Thai food I've had in the Bay Area by far. Great customer service. Overall great experience.

Overall, pretty great place to grab a meal. The bois and I always come here to catch up and grab a good dinner. One note: it is CASH-ONLY if your order is $10. Since food is pretty well priced, you can reach this with a dish + a drink really easily.

Food-wise, I would probably give a 5/5. Really solid choice for convenient and affordable Thai cuisine. I like the Pad Kee Mao especially, and I really like spicy food. If you like spicy, hot is definitely the move!!  I like the Thai iced tea, but I would warn that they don't give much (lot of ice).

Service-wise, I would give a 3/5. Nice people, but service is rather limited. Can only split a bill in 2, regardless of the party size. This makes it rather difficult for larger parties that want to split the bill. My roommates and I just individually order take out and eat at home.

Ambiance-wise, 4/5. Decent amount of seating (never really full). Depending on the weather outside, the table closest to the door gets cold pretty often (from experience).

Overall, this was a really good Thai food place with lots of options. In addition to Thai food, they had some Japanese favorites like Suki Yaki and some Chinese favorites like wonton soup. Overall the menu was simple, reasonable, and affordable.

FOOD: The flavors here are very good. However the chicken in my yellow curry was overcooked and the Pad Thai noodles were especially sticky and clumpy. The flavor though was tremendous. I really enjoyed it, and the portions that they gave were more than enough. Two small scoops of rice with your curry, and a pretty big heaping plate of Pad Thai.

SERVICE: Quick service from friendly people. Not very talkative or social. But they were more than willing to fill up our water, and were very polite.

COST: Like I said, the portions were really good. And that goes along with a very reasonable cost. This affordable place offers a nice range of food for a good cost.
